SF Pier-less Crab

This posting is belated but worth penning down. On a late Saturday morning last November in San Francisco, my family and I went to the Farmer’s Market at Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 2 to sightsee. There were interesting stalls selling all kinds of food and vegetables, which were mostly local produce.

When it was time for lunch, we wanted to eat something light and healthy. We scoured the place which was pretty crowded (being the weekend) and chanced upon the "Fish Company” located inside the building of the Pier. It looked very clean and the ambience was pleasant.

We ordered calamari pasta and clam chowder soup which were simply divine. To top it off, we had two whole crabs which were steamed to perfection - and more importantly, these were very very fresh and healthily prepared.

As you break the shell of the crab (best of all not much effort needed), we were delightfully rewarded with succulent, chunky bites. Two little bowls of dips were served with the crabs - one was tomato ketchup with a squeeze of lemon and the other was olive oil, possibly blended with a slight tinge of herbs.

Absolutely no regrets. Just writing about it, we can still vividly remember the taste! Verdict – a "yummy-licious" meal of great value for the affordable price paid. Certainly a very memorable meal!

For our caffeine fix after the meal, we left the building and found an open-air coffee stall. The two coffee guys certainly whipped up very good coffee - we had a mocha and a latte. You will be enthralled to watch them create the coffee through a precise routine as you see your coffee coming to “shape” topped with a smooth foam. The texture and creaminess of the coffee coupled with the bittersweet aroma was just heavenly. It was "The Coffee" worth waiting for.
